Neon Canyon is a tributary of the Escalante river in Utah. The Escalante flows into Glen Canyon, now Lake Powell. Access to Neon is a beautiful yet difficult 7 mile one-way hike down from the trailhead off Hole in the Rock road out of Escalante.
The small natural bridges in this photo flow with beautiful waterfalls in springtime and when it rains. The glow achieved here is the of an intense setting sun on the opposite wall, creating this brilliant reflected light.
A popular destination for canyoneering, my wife Lisa has rappelled through the middle hole in the photo into the frigid waters below, about a 40 foot drop.
